This is the (near) future of energy.  Sure, renewables are great and all, but there’s no viable way to transition straight to them.  it’s not a sound business model, and it simply won’t happen.  Nuclear Energy is the stepping stone from coal and oil to renewable energy.
Unfortunately, the media and environmentalists groups paint it as some evil and unsafe form of getting energy.  The only nuclear disaster that has ever occurred was Chernobyl, which was a gross compounding of negligence and Soviet hubris.  Three Mile Island?  No contest.  Fukishima?  Worse than Three Mile, but still not even close to Chernobyl. Guess what environmentalists?  You’re getting in your own way.  Because of your lobbying, not a single nuclear plant has been built since 1974.  Stop blocking nuclear legislation so we can wean ourselves off of fossil fuels.
Seriously, are they so blinded by dedication?
